Being Proactive Leads to Success

Two sons work for their father on the family's farm. The younger brother had for some years been given more responsibility and reward, and one day the older brother asks his father to explain why? The father says, "First, go to the Jon's Farm and see if they have any Geese for sale - we need to add to our stock." The older son soon returns with the answer, "Yes they have five Geese, which they are ready to sell to us."

An Assortment of Cups: A Story

A group of working adults got together to visit their University lecturer. The lecturer was happy to see them. The conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Then, the lecturer went to the kitchen to get an assortment of cups - some porcelain, some in plastic, some in a glass, some plain looking and some looked rather expensive and exquisite.

A women entered upon ‘A’ishah (the wife of the Prophet Muhammad), and her hand was paralyzed. She said, “O mother of the Believers, I went to sleep yesterday and my hand was healthy, and I woke up and it was paralyzed. ‘A’ishah said, “How is that?” She said, “I had wealthy parents, and my Father used to pay zakat, host guests, and give to beggars, and he did not see any good except that he would do it. As for my mother, she was stingy, and did nothing good with my Father’s wealth. Then my Father died, and my mother died only two months after him. So I saw my Father in a dream last night, and he was wearing two yellow garments and in front of him was a flowing river. I said, “Father, what is this?’ He said, “Whoever does good in this life will see it, this is what Allah has given me.” I said, “What has happened to my mother?” He asked, “Your Mother dies?” I said, “Yes”.....

An Hour and An Hour..

One day, Hanzalah al Usaidi* said to his friend Abu Bakr*: “Abu Bakr, I have become a hypocrite!” “I seek Allah’s protection against the accursed Satan! Why are you saying this?” Abu Bakar was shocked. “I swear by God” Hanzalah continued, “When I am in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ * or when we are listening to the Quran from his mouth, or when he reminds us of Paradise, I feel motivated and energised and inspired! When he reminds us of Hellfire, I feel fear and aim to be extra careful in my actions. But the moment I reach home after the gathering, when I meet my wife and children, or when I go back to work after the gathering, I feel different! I often get busy and forget about the matters of Hereafter. I can’t recognise my own heart anymore!”
