The story of one poor person who has a lifelong disability (which live in Klang, Selangor, Malaysia) for the past two years and has been viral in the social networking site recently received the attention of the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) Malaysia when receiving RM400 monthly financial assistance.
The poor known as Abdullah Gunalan Ramathan is a convert who has embraced Islam five years ago. He was originally born in a normal state, but all the joys and hopes of going through life like others stopped so far as being involved in accidents that limited his movement.
LZS via Facebook said Ramathan had previously received a monthly financial aid of RM250 per month and raised to RM400 a month from July.
“They also receive monthly financial assistance from the Social Welfare Department of RM300 a month.
“In addition, he receives aid from Zakat in the form of staple food monthly, Ramadhan and Eid aid of RM650 and receives several emergency relief counts,” LZS said.
In addition, LZS also helps to settle the arrears of water bills amounting to RM451.
Among other things, Zakat Selangor’s is in progress to aid the arrears of electric bills, including the arrears of two children’s school fees, medical assistance such as wheelchairs and beds.
